Haroon Safi - CRIL Volunteer

Hi everyone, my name is Haroon Safi. I am aspiring to be an elementary school teacher. I’ve been volunteering at CRIL since November 2023

1. What is one thing you learned as a volunteer at CRIL?

One thing that I’ve learned while volunteering is patience. Sometimes with the people you’re helping out you gotta go at a speed that they are comfortable with.

2. What advice would you give to future volunteers?

You need to let the people you’re helping do it themselves. CRIL is a place where people learn about laws, devices, and activities that can be done at home personally

3. Why is it important to give back to the community?

It’s important for me to give back to the community since I aspire to be a teacher. Whether it be with CRIL, at an elementary school, or anywhere else actively and consistently helping others is something that’s a requirement on a personal level.

4. Why should individuals volunteer at CRIL?

People can gain skills in communicating, learn about what can help a person with a visual impairment. It can also look good on a resume as well, especially for people looking to get work in a place like or similar to CRIL.
